Voucher code madness

It’s about this time of year that your email gets inundated with all sorts of voucher codes and the sheer number of them this year seems to reflect the desperate economic times for retailers, as well as the British public’s perennial love of a bargain. However, if you’re anything like me after receiving the Thresher’s voucher for the fourteenth time they seem to get a bit tiresome although the Gap one does come in handy!

I might be in the minority though as the latest figures from Hitwise on the subject suggests people are searching for them in record numbers.   Searches are up 133% in the last 12 months and visits to voucher sites (such as Hot Deals UK) are up 45%. To read more information on this click here.

While the number of users are still in the minority I would expect the growth of voucher codes and related sites to continue in 2009 as users become more savvy to deals out there and thanks to people like Martin Lewis bringing them to wider through his TV appearances and site, MoneySavingExpert.com.
